Help Cure Child Obesity
From the Kitchen
Dealing with child obesity and food issues can be difficult but cooking can be a fun activity. Unfortunately it is not utilized as often as it should be. Yes there are dangers lurking in the kitchen so caution needs to be adhered to. Hot stoves, sharp knives, and electrical appliances are all potential hazards to the uninformed. With proper instruction and supervision the rewards are far greater than the risks.

Preparing and cooking meals as a family has many benefits. Your children will learn about proper nutrition, they will be directly involved in the creation of a meal, and studies have shown that children are more apt to eat their entire dinner vegetables and all. This, of course, means they are eating healthier.
They are also benefiting from the kitchen experience and hopefully learning a skill that they will utilize for the rest of their lives. Too often children are watching television, playing video games, or using the computer with a bag of chips in their lap while Mom or Dad prepares the meals. Our children need to be more active and get more exercise because child obesity in America has become a major health issue.

They have a natural tendency to like the foods that their parents like . Which is why it is so important that the parents set the best example as to food choices. Our diet is their perception of proper eating habits. Cooking as a family is a great way to help cure child obesity from the kitchen. Now if we could only teach them how to do the dishes!
